Set up PhoneShield, one step at a time
About ten minutes. This is exactly what you will see on the phone. Each step can be read aloud: press Listen.

Get the PhoneShield app
On the phone you are protecting, install PhoneShield and sign in with your PhoneShield account. Calls that pass the front desk ring right in the app, like any phone call.
iPhone: open the App Store and search for PhoneShield, or go to phoneshield.ai/app on the phone. Android: PhoneShield on Google Play. Sign in with the account you signed up with. When the phone asks, allow the microphone and notifications.
What is your phone number?
The number family and friends already call. PhoneShield protects it; the number stays the same.
The app asks for it first: the everyday number of the phone you are protecting, with the area code. It stays the same; nobody needs a new number.
Turn on Call Forwarding
So calls to your number meet PhoneShield's front desk first. It is one setting on the phone, and then a test call.
iPhone on AT&T or T-Mobile
Also Cricket, Mint, Metro, Consumer Cellular and most others.

- In the PhoneShield app, tap Copy number.
- Open Settings and scroll all the way down. Tap Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding.
- Switch it on, tap Forward To and paste the number.
Don’t use the search in Settings. It only finds Call Forwarding after it has been switched on once, so tap your way there.
iPhone on Verizon
Also Visible, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile and US Cellular. There is no switch in Settings.

- Open the green Phone app and tap Keypad.
- Type *72 and then your PhoneShield number. The app shows it to you.
- Press call. Wait for the beeps, then hang up.
Android
In the PhoneShield app, tap Type the code for me: the Phone app opens with the code typed in. Press call and hang up after the confirmation.
Then press Test forwarding in the app: PhoneShield calls your number and checks the call comes straight back. More carriers and landlines: call forwarding for every carrier.
Now bring in your contacts
People in your contacts ring straight through. In the PhoneShield app, tap Import my contacts; new contacts are added by themselves.
On the last setup screen in the app, tap Import my contacts. Later you can mark a few people as favorites on the Lists tab; they ring you even in Do not disturb.
Your shield is on
Scammers are refused before your phone rings, the people you know ring straight through, and everyone else meets the front desk.
From then on: known scammers are refused before your phone rings, the people you know ring straight through, and everyone else meets the front desk, who asks who they are and why. You see every call in the app.
